Since the beginning of their domestication, dogs have been a part of the human world. Because of their instinctive guarding ability, they are used to protect livestock and even as police dogs, or even as house pets performing tricks.

Noticeably intelligent creatures, dogs sure do make great and loyal companions.  Although often described as “man’s best friend”, these creatures, weren’t naturally designed to interact with humans.

From time to time, there have been reported instances of dogs attacking owners or other people. Although extreme cases are rare, it is still important that we are aware of the dangers and responsibility of having dogs. The following is our list of the 10 most dangerous dog breeds in the world.

1. Caucasian Shepherd

Meet the topper of our list, also known as Caucasian Ovcharka, this dog can grow very large, minimum of 50kg or 110 lb. for an adult male, life span average of 10-12 years.
This breed originated from Russia and other European countries, originally used as guard dog for protecting livestock in mountain regions, these dogs are even feared by some popular wild predators such as wolves.

2. Pit Bull

A very popular breed of strong dogs and many times accountable for cases of attacking humans. This is the resulting breed when you combine the energy and agility of terriers and the body build and strength of a bulldog. In some countries, Pit Bulls are even used in dog fights, where the dogs are trained to fight each other in a death match.

3. Perro de Presa Canario

Often described as strong-willed and dominant dog. Perro de Presa Canario, which is Spanish for “Canarian Catch Dog” also known as the Canary Mastiff. Used as working dog for farm animals, but is a combination of several breed of fighting dogs. There are rumors that like the Pit Bull, this breed is also used in deadly dog fights

4. Rottweiler

A breed of dog that is well-known for its fearsome reputation. This dogs are one of the oldest breed herding farm animals. Rottweilers are very intelligent and aggressive by nature and are very effective as guard dogs. Almost half of death caused by dog attacks in the US are reported to be caused by them.

5. Fila Brasileiro

Aka the Brazilian Mastiff, are one of the largest breeds of herding dogs. This particular breed originated in Brazil makes excellent guard dogs but requires experienced owners. Very aggressive and protective, these dogs are feared due to their uncontrollable behavior and many instances of fatalities caused by their attacks have been reported.

6. Alaskan Malamute

Originally used as sled dogs and carrying heavy loads, these popular Arctic breed is one of the largest domesticated dogs that can grow up to 100 lbs. capable of surviving extreme climates. Malamutes are natural hunter and can even kill large predators such as bears. No wonder, this dog is fearsome.

7. Wolfdog

These breed is a mixture of domesticated dogs and wild wolves. These beasts have protective instincts and can be very wild due to their unpredictable behavior that probably resulted from breeding wild animals with common dogs. In some countries, owning and breeding this dog is prohibited.

8. Bullmastiff

Bullmastiffs are powerful, strong and solid-built dogs. Very sensitive guarding abilities, these dogs are dependable and efficient when it comes to security. With consistent training, these dogs become very dependable and obedient. But there are many incidents of attacks that even resulted to fatality.

9. Husky

A popular breed of domesticated dog, Huskies originated as sled dogs in the Northern regions. Extremely agile and good at carrying freight with thick coats and unique color patterns and striking facial mask added with special blue eyes. They are closely related to Malamutes and are noticeably resembling to wild wolves. Some cases reported are Huskies working with their pack attacking humans.

10. Doberman Pinschers

Famous for their agility and tracking abilities, these breed of intelligent dog makes the perfect guard. However, they require a closely monitored training with consistency and patience. Doberman Pinschers are very capable of killing humans. They are very sensitive breed, and can be very aggressive in most cases.

I have a story to tell, a bit personal, but this is a reality for me which I want to share to all of you with the hope that you can learn from it.

I have a long-time fear of death and of losing a loved one –a family member that I love dearly. It has made me uncomfortable and always unsure of my feelings. But as years went by, I have overcome that great fear although it was not easy to do. I have experienced many emotional ups and downs, life lessons, and actual life events that hurt me. Those life events were my greatest fears but I have realized that it is inevitable.

No one can stop death. I lost my father when I was twelve. I felt so hopeless during that time and so fearful of the gloomy future that seems to cover my young life. I thought I couldn’t move on with life’s journey. Saddened by that experience, I ceased to be happy and hopeful because I thought that death was also my end. Being a Daddy’s girl, I was so devastated.

But as they say, there is a rainbow after the rain. As I matured and as I have gone through many other life experiences that molded my character, I knew it is possible to overcome that fear. I slowly began to plan again for my future, to see the brighter side of life, and to hope that there is tomorrow for me. And that hope gave me confidence.

Overcoming a great fear is never easy. It takes a lot of courage and self-confidence to move on and dump that ugly fear that blocks our way to live life to the fullest. But never ever let that fear prevent you from seeing the greater part of life.

Life is supposed to be happy and full of hope so we should live it that way.

Take time to evaluate yourself and list down all the fears you have that keeps you from living life to the fullest. After you have listed all of them, commit yourself to overcome them, gradually and with the vision of a fuller life ahead.

I have listed here a few of the common fears that might be similar to what you have:

• Showing one’s true self
• Spontaneity
• Sickness
• New experiences
• Change
• Mistakes
• Financial instability
• Speaking in front of other people
• Rejection
• Refusing others
• Opening up your feelings to others
• Taking risks
• Going to new places
• Switching jobs

Is your fear included in the list above? After you have accepted your fear, you have to overcome it and get it out of your life.  Now, here are the 10 ways to effectively overcome even the greatest of your fears:

1. Accept that a fear is inside of you
2. Commit that you are going to triumph over that fear
3. Remind yourself that it is alright to be scared and feel anxious
4. Have a role model and make him an inspiration to eliminate fear
5. Focus on your goal to get rid of that fear
6. Keep motivating yourself with positive affirmation
7. Conquer that fear and decide to never let it control your life again
8. Just let go and enjoy life, it is beautiful.
9. Appreciate your efforts after your victory
10. Realize that is is not as hard as you think
